• To submit your film, please visit the official European Union Film Festival – India website at www.euffindia.com and navigate to the EUFF Film Project submission page.
• The submission process requires applicants to complete an online submission form, which includes:
  • Personal details of the applicant/director
  • Film-related information, including the synopsis, credits, technical specifications, and other required details
• Please note that all fields marked in the submission form are mandatory. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
• Before submitting your application, you must:
  • Carefully review and accept the Terms & Conditions governing the submission process; and
  • Confirm that all information provided is true, accurate, and complete. The Festival reserves the right to disqualify any submission found to contain false, misleading, or incomplete information.
• Applicants are required to upload one (1) MOV (.mov) file of the submitted film through the online submission portal. The uploaded file should comply with the technical specifications prescribed by the Festival.
• Submission Window:
  • Opening Date for Film Submissions: 9 September 2026
  • Closing Date for Film Submissions: 30 September 2026
  • Submissions received after 11:59 PM IST on 30 September 2026 will not be accepted. Applicants are advised to submit their films well in advance of the deadline to avoid any technical issues or delays.

Films may be shot in any location within the territory of India. However, to be eligible for consideration, each film must primarily engage with one or more of the following themes:

• Identity and Belonging
• Migration and Diaspora
• Language and Cultural Memory
• Women and Their Interior World
• Queer Stories (Eg: narratives exploring coming out, self-discovery, coming-of-age journeys, gender dysphoria, gender transition, and lived LGBTQIA+ experiences)
• Climate Change and Its Impact
• Indigenous Stories

• This section is open exclusively to filmmakers who are citizens of India and are resident of India at the time of submission.
• This section is open only to completed short films, including fiction, documentary, animation, or hybrid works, with a total running time of at least 5 mins or maximum 10 minutes inclusive of opening and end credits.
• The film can be in any Indian language or in English.
• The submitted film must have English subtitles.
• Only completed films will be considered for selection. Work-in-progress films, rough cuts, incomplete edits, or films pending post-production are not eligible for submission.
• Each submitted film must be an original work, and the applicant must have obtained all necessary rights, licences, permissions, and clearances required for the film's submission and exhibition at the Festival.
• A valid CBFC certificate is not required at the time of submission. The Festival will apply for the necessary CBFC exemption for the screening of selected films. However, the applicant remains responsible for obtaining and ensuring all other applicable rights, licences, permissions, and clearances necessary for the film's exhibition at the Festival.
• The Festival reserves the sole right to determine the eligibility of any submission. Any film that does not comply with these Eligibility Criteria or any other provisions of the Festival Rules & Regulations may be deemed ineligible and disqualified at the Festival's sole discretion.
• All films submitted to this section must be India Premiere, i.e. if selected, their first public screening in India should be at the festival.
• Films should not be previously exhibited on any online platforms including social media and YouTube.
• Films that were previously screened in India on public platforms are not eligible for this section.

• The festival only accepts film submissions via a downloadable link, i.e. the festival only accepts downloadable & password-protected online screeners (Vimeo link preferred). Please include the film link in your film submission form. If a Vimeo link is not possible, please send a downloadable Google Drive link without a password. You can upload an MOV file in the Google Drive.
• If you are sending Google Drive links, please ensure that it is accessible to anybody who clicks on it. We do not accept any film screener link submission via any other methods.
• Please make sure that the size of the film file you send via the link is less than 2 GB.
• The screener link must be active until December 31, 2026.
• Please note that we require the film to be played in its entirety and therefore require a link to a single video. Multiple links for the same film will not be accepted.
• All film files downloaded for viewing will be deleted immediately after the selection process of the festival is completed.
• All films have to be submitted in their original version with English subtitles. If the original version of the film is in English, English subtitles are still required. The cost of subtitling is the sole responsibility of the Director.
• Dubbed versions of films in other languages are not eligible for submission.

• Films submitted to the Festival are not required to have a certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of India at the time of application.
• Screening of selected films at the Festival will be subject to an exemption from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), Government of India. The Festival will apply for the necessary exemption on behalf of the selected films.
• Final screening of a selected film at the Festival will be subject to the grant of the required exemption by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

• Films applying to this edition must be completed by September 30, 2026.
• All films have to be submitted directly to EUFF only through the online submission process.
• Film links sent via email without filling out the forms will not be considered for selection.
• The festival will not provide feedback on films or share specific reasons for rejection of any film.
• The Director will be notified about the selection of the film for The EUFF Film Project 2026 at the end of the selection process. No information will be divulged before that.
• If selected, the representatives of the selected film must keep this information confidential (including on social media) till the official press announcement by EUFF 2026, where the final list of selected films will be announced.
• Breach of this will make the selection of the film liable to be cancelled.

A submission is considered complete when ALL (4) of the following criteria are met by the deadline. Only on acknowledgement of receipt of all four criteria is the submission considered complete.

1. A correctly filled online film submission form
2. Downloadable film screener reaches the festival team
3. Submitted within the deadline – at or before September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM
4. Only one film can be submitted per filmmaker

• All eligible submissions received by the Festival before the submission deadline will be reviewed by the Festival's Selection Committee.
• Following the review process, the Selection Committee will shortlist ten (10) films for the Official Selection of The EUFF Film Project 2026. The shortlisted films will be screened as part of the 31st European Union Film Festival – India, where they will have their premiere at the Festival's New Delhi edition.
• An independent Jury, appointed by the Festival, will evaluate the shortlisted films. Based on the Jury's deliberations, one (1) winning film will be selected.
• All ten (10) shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to attend the Festival and participate in the official screening of their films, networking sessions, and other Festival events, as applicable.
• Please note that attendance at the Festival is optional but strongly encouraged. All travel, accommodation, local transportation, meals (if applicable), and any other personal expenses incurred in connection with attending the Festival shall be the sole responsibility of the shortlisted filmmakers. The Festival will not reimburse or bear any costs associated with their participation unless expressly communicated in writing by the Festival.
• One winner will be announced after the screening of all 10 films during EUFF in Delhi. Schedule will be announced later.

• Certificate to all 10 shortlisted film directors. All 10 get to be featured on the EUFF website and social media.
• The Director of the winning film will receive the EUFF Film Project Award 2026, which includes participation in the 15th edition of Script Fiesta, taking place in Warsaw, Poland, from 17–21 March 2027.
• The winning Director will receive round-trip airfare to Warsaw, accommodation in Warsaw, and a full Festival accreditation, granting access to all Script Fiesta panels and masterclasses.
• Script Fiesta is organised by the Warsaw Film School (Warszawska Szkoła Filmowa), which will provide and cover the cost of the winner's accommodation in Warsaw during the Festival.
• The award is intended to give the winning filmmaker an opportunity to participate in one of Poland's leading events dedicated to screenwriting and the development of film and television projects, meet filmmakers and industry professionals, and take part in the Festival's programme of panels and masterclasses.

• All selected films will receive a digital slate with the laurel of the festival upon acceptance of the invitation. This laurel has to be a part of the final film file before the film begins.
• Award-winning film will receive the appropriate laurel with the name of the award, post the festival. The laurel of the winning films has to be changed accordingly. The laurels should be displayed in all advertising and promotional material of the film for any future public screenings. These should also be clearly visible for theatrical release as well as for Video/DVD/Digital distribution in India and abroad.

These are the Rules & Regulations for the EUFF Film Project section. Please read them carefully before filling out the registration and film submission forms.

• The registration form has to be filled out by the Director or one of the Directors of the film, in the case of multiple directors.
• The director/s of the film has to be a citizen of India and based out of India.
• Age Bracket – 18 years to 25 years as on September 30, 2026.
• The applicant is requested to upload a valid government-issued proof of age.
• The Director should be the Primary Contact Person who will be the main point of contact for all future communication regarding their submission to the EUFF Film Project. Contact person in the registration form shall be regarded as the single-point contact.
• Contact information such as the email address and phone number must be provided by the primary contact person. Kindly ensure that the Primary Contact Person is easily reachable at all times and prompt in replying to emails / calls.
• The email address of the Rights Holder (who may be the applicant) will be published on the website if the film gets selected for the EUFF Film Project. This could be the director/producer of the film who will be able to respond to potential queries by the audience or industry professionals.
• The registration and submission forms are optimised for a computer screen. Kindly ensure that you fill out these forms using a desktop/laptop computer and not a mobile phone.
• The film submission form cannot be filled out in stages. Once you have started the process, please complete the same. It should take approximately 30 mins to fill the form.
• Word limits are to be adhered to wherever mentioned in these forms. The Festival reserves the right to shorten and/or edit the text for publication of film information in the festival catalogue.
• Completed forms need to be submitted by the stated deadline. The Festival will not take responsibility for the exclusion of films if complete information is not supplied by the deadline.
• All rights of the film will belong to the filmmaker/s producers.
• The application process is being managed by Acelema IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. All personal information and data submitted by applicants will be collected, processed and managed by Acelema IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. All personal data, along with any films or other materials submitted as part of the application, will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to any unauthorised third party.
• By submitting the forms to the Festival, the Director hereby certifies, on behalf of all third parties involved, that they have read and understood the Rules & Regulations listed, that they are legally authorised to submit the film to EUFF 2026 and that the information provided by the Director is true and correct. The Director indemnifies EUFF against any claims to the contrary.
• In case of any queries regarding submissions, please refer to this document. In case you have a specific query not covered here, please send an email to submission@euffindia.com, with the subject as the Original Title of the film. For example, if your film name is 'Life is Great', the subject of your email should be 'Life is Great'.

By submitting the form/film I acknowledge the following:

1. I hereby declare and affirm that I am the director / producer, owner and rights holder of the Film and its content, and all rights associated with or relating to the Film and its content which I am submitting for EUFF 2026 (the “Film Festival”).
2. I declare and affirm that I have obtained the necessary permission from the producer, owner and rights holder of the Film to use the content relating to the Film to submit it to EUFF 2026. I further declare and confirm that the Film and its content do not (i) infringe any copyright, patent, or other right or constitute the misappropriation of any trade secret, trademark of any third party proprietary rights, and/or (ii) violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation.
3. I acknowledge that I have obtained the necessary consent, permissions, and approvals relating to the Film and its content including without limitation promotional materials, and synopsis to be submitted and screened at the Film Festival.
4. I hereby covenant that it is my sole responsibility to clear the Film and its content from any and all actual or potential legal claims and issues, including, without limitation, claims based upon theories of libel, racism, blasphemy, defamation, invasion of privacy, violation of rights of publicity, theft of trade secrets, breach of confidence, breach of confidential relationship, and breach of express or implied contract (“Third Party Claim(s)”).
5. I accept that the Film Festival disavows any responsibility for, and will not be held responsible for, any unauthorized inclusion of any content or materials within or relating to the submitted Film that are or may be the basis for any Third Party Claims based upon any of the foregoing legal theories or others.
6. I confirm that I have not done or caused to be done or omitted to do or caused to be omitted to be done, any act that has resulted or might result in the abandonment or impairment of such right, title, interest, intellectual property right including copyright, permission, or approval for the Film and its content.
7. I acknowledge that the selection of the Film for EUFF 2026 is at the sole discretion of EUFF, and EUFF reserves the right to disqualify any Film, with or without any reasons, and without refund of any or all submission fees or entry fees.
8. I agree and accept that the Film, and its content including without limitation promotional materials, synopsis shall be rendered accessible to third-party partners and evaluation committees associated with the Film Festival as well as consultants of the Film Festival.
9. If the film is selected and thereafter upon accepting the invitation from the festival, I hereby irrevocably grant to EUFF and the Film Festival the right to screen the Film and exhibit the stills and posters of the Film on digital and physical platforms of the Film Festival, and to screen, publicise, advertise and promote the Film on digital and physical platforms of the Film Festival, in connection with any advertising and promotional efforts of EUFF during the Film Festival.
10. I hereby affirm and declare that all rights granted hereunder are and will be free and clear of liens, encumbrances, or claims of every kind and all royalty and licence fees required now or in the future to be paid in connection therewith are or will be paid by me.
11. I hereby irrevocably grant to EUFF the right to sublicense any or all of the foregoing rights to one or more third parties (as may be required) only for the purpose of promotion, advertising and/or publicising of the Film and for editorial coverage of the Film Festival.
12. I agree that the stills, posters or other promotional materials of the Film could be used as per the Film Festival's requirements to advertise and promote the Film solely for the purpose of the Film Festival.
13. I agree that the Film Festival reserves the right to shorten and/or edit the text of the synopsis for the purpose of publication of Films in the Film Festival catalogue.
14. I undertake not to hold EUFF or the Film Festival liable for any loss or damage caused to the Film, and its content including without limitation promotional materials, and synopsis that I may upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available with the Film Festival.
15. I agree that I have no rights to make use of EUFF's intellectual property (including, but not limited to trademarks belonging to EUFF) which I may access during the Film Festival.
16. I hereby indemnify and hold EUFF, the Film Festival and its sponsors, third-party licensors and suppliers, and each of their trustees, members, directors, officers and employees; harmless against any claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including legal cost) obtained against, imposed upon, suffered or incurred by EUFF due to or arising out of (i) necessary clearances, permissions, approvals not obtained by me, and/or (ii) screening of the Film at the Film Festival, the platform, the software, the website, and/or (iii) any breach of the Rules & Regulations and this Acknowledgement provided by me and/or (iv) claims relating to piracy, theft or infringement of any third party intellectual property rights, and/or (v) any Third Party Claims.
17. I hereby covenant that EUFF, the Film Festival and its sponsors, third-party licensors and suppliers, and each of their trustees, members, directors, officers and employees shall not be liable for any special, punitive, consequential, incidental, or exemplary damages (including lost or anticipated revenues or profits relating to the same or attorneys' fees) arising from any claim relating to the Rules & Regulations or any of the rights granted hereunder, or Applicant's failure to perform any obligation under these Rules & Regulations or for the use of the Film and its content at the Film Festival. I, the Applicant, agree to have read and accepted the Rules & Regulations for participation in EUFF.
18. The European Union Film Festival reserves the right to settle all cases not covered by the guidelines and to grant exceptions in special cases. All cases will be governed by and construed in all respects following the laws of India and settled under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India. The festival also reserves the right to remove any film from the selection in any special cases as deemed by the festival.
