Cinema is a multidimensional art that transcends the boundaries of space and time, offering the audience—wherever they are—a thought, an emotion, an intrinsically human restlessness or hope. It listens to the echoes of history and keeps memories alive, playing a multifaceted role in shaping contemporary cultural narratives and global perceptions.
The European Union Film Festival strives to do just that—curate films that serve as a threshold through space and time. Through the extraordinary communicative power of the seventh art, the festival becomes a platform for listening, sharing, and fostering intercultural dialogue beyond physical and virtual borders. It celebrates the meeting of two worlds—the immense beauty and multifaceted complexity of Europe and India. The 2024 edition, now in its 29th year, promises a captivating journey through the rich diversity of European cinema. It highlights the originality of storytelling, the variety of genres and formats, and the fresh perspectives of emerging and independent filmmakers, alongside the artistic finesse of seasoned directors.
Our curation this year explores the turmoil of the human soul and the often unfathomable complexity of daily life, from both individual and collective perspectives. It seeks vital pathways toward peace, brotherhood, and solidarity in an increasingly uncertain future that one can only navigate by standing together. The 29th edition of EUFF India promises to take audiences on a cinematic journey, surprising them with new experiences by presenting a rich array of genres and languages. From drama to comedy, historical films to sci-fi, philosophical works to thrillers, and from shorts to feature films, the festival showcases the limitless blending of these forms. It delves into the unexpected and breathtaking landscapes of the imagination, revealing the ghosts of the present, while celebrating the resilience of the deepest core of humankind and its relentless pursuit of love and collective fulfilment.”
Come embark on this unique journey at EUFF 2024; let these cinematic experiences help you uncover various facets of life and provide perspectives that linger long after the credits roll.”

Synopsis
Marta is now in her 30s and has long abandoned her cinematic dreams. Stuck in a routine job, she spends her days caring for her chronically ill cat, dealing with her stoner boyfriend, and telling her friends that she'll soon start writing her new script. Secretly battling functional depression, Marta continues to dream of making films, drawn to the therapeutic power of storytelling, yet paralysed by her own fear. When her friend Kaspars returns to town, Marta is thrust into a series of increasingly chaotic events. In this dark comedy, Marta is forced to confront the inevitable question every filmmaker faces: if you want to direct films, can you first direct yourself out of your own depression? The film explores the life of a millennial woman navigating the complexities of adulthood while chasing her long-held dream.

Everyone has their own Chimera, something they try to achieve but never manage to find. For the band of tombaroli, thieves of ancient grave goods and archaeological wonders, the Chimera means redemption from work and the dream of easy wealth. For Arthur, the Chimera looks like the woman he lost, Beniamina (Yile Yara Vianello). To find her, Arthur challenges the invisible, searches everywhere, and goes inside the earth—in search of the door to the afterlife of which myths speak. In an adventurous journey between the living and the dead, between forests and cities, between celebrations and solitudes, the intertwined destinies of these characters unfold, all in search of the Chimera.
