The European Union Film Festival—India (EUFF) is an annual event organised by the EU Delegation to India along with Member States. It celebrates the richness and diversity of European cinema and culture, showcasing award-winning films from European Union countries and Ukraine. Curated specifically for Indian audiences, the festival serves as a ‘Window to Europe,’ highlighting cinema’s unique ability to transcend boundaries and foster shared experiences.
The 29th edition of the festival brings an eclectic mix of films deeply rooted in European culture and society. These powerful narratives explore the many facets of humanity, life, and everything in between that have a universal appeal.
With a specially curated line-up of 26 award-winning films in over 31 languages, the festival delves into the intricate complexities of daily life. The curation explores an array of themes, from complex relationships to queer identity to sisterhood, male bonding, and solidarity in diverse socio-cultural times that must be navigated together. Featuring an eclectic mix of genres, the festival has something for everyone.
At EUFF 2024, audiences will have the opportunity to engage with European artists attending the festival. They can gain exclusive insights into the nuances of filmmaking and acting through special interactions with Italian actress Yile Yara Vianello from the film La Chimaera, which is the opening film at the festival, as well as Lithuanian filmmaker Tomas Vengris, director of Five and a Half Love Stories in an Apartment in Vilnius.
Over the years, the festival has established itself as a must-visit destination for cinephiles eager to experience the finest in European cinema. This year, the festival expands beyond Delhi, with new chapters in Kolkata and Hyderabad. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the 29th edition of the European Union Film Festival!
