The Pit

After Emīlija, a neighbour’s daughter, makes some off-handed contemptuous remarks about Markuss’s father, the boy reacts in a cruel manner. The negative consequences of his action resonate throughout his village and the boy begins to harbour hatred towards the people around him. The only person the boy can relate to is an old sailor who happens to live in the nearby woods. They inspire one another, and trust each other with their secrets. Then, an accidental turn of events brings about an unexpected and radical change in the boy’s reputation and standing. Will Markuss be able to reverse his reputation?
